POSITION TITLE : Project Engineer (entry level)
DEPARTMENT : Estimating & Project Management
LOCATION : Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
SALARY RANGE : $46,000 to $60,000 annual

DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES :
Nationally recognized environmental remediation contractor (#3 in ENR in 2022) looking for an entry level Project / Construction / Environmental Engineer to support large scale environmental remediation at Superfund projects. Our clients on the Project are the US Army Corps of Engineers and US EPA agencies. The jobsites are throughout the US, with an immediate opening at a site in Vandergrift, Pennsylvania.
Sevenson has been in business for over 100 years, entering the environmental remediation market sector in 1979 performing the remediation at the 1st Superfund site ever – Love Canal. We have a huge program and great backlog of work.
This is not a contract position. We hire our employees with the intent for them to retire at Sevenson. There is upward mobility, future growth, and advancement opportunities from this position.
The daily work will include:
- Working at a construction site. About half of the time will be spent at a desk working on a computer, and the other half will be spent out on the active construction site inspecting the work and interacting with our team and subcontractors.
- Assisting with construction daily quality control duties – inspections of the work site, producing daily quality control reports, submittals, etc.
- Assisting with production of Work Plans for individual remediation areas and planning (impacts to underground and above ground utilities, excavation shoring techniques, work zone set up, etc).
- Working with licensed surveyors, tracking excavation volumes, backfill materials, etc.
- Coordination and management of subcontractors, purchase orders, and vendors.
- Interpretation of Project Drawings and Specifications
- Assist Project Manager in development of weekly meeting agendas, update USACE / Jacobs on Quality Control status (submittals, deficiencies, inspections, progress).
- Perform USACE 3-phase inspections (preparatory, initial, follow-up)
- Tracking deficiencies and necessary corrective actions
- Coordination with the rest of the staff as necessary (Project Manager, Quality Control Manager, other Project Engineers, Project Chemist, Samplers, H&S Officers / Technicians, Air Monitoring techs, etc).
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE :
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Civil or Environmental preferred) or related discipline (Construction Management, Environmental Science, etc.).
- No experience is necessary (entry level position).
- Ability to multi-task, work in a team environment, have a work hard mentality, and attention to detail are important traits.
SALARY/BENEFITS : An employee’s salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications.
