Position: Director of Special Education
Location: Hallmark Youthcare @ 12800 W. Creek Parkway Richmond, Va. 23238
We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated individual to join our team as the Director of Special Education. The Director of Special Education will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our special education program, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations, and providing support and leadership to our special education staff.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive special education program that meets the needs of all students with disabilities
- Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations related to special education, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA)
- Provide leadership and support to special education staff, including teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers
- Collaborate with general education teachers and administrators to ensure that students with disabilities are receiving appropriate supports and services
- Monitor student progress and make adjustments to the special education program as needed to meet individual student needs
- Serve as a liaison between the school district and parents of students with disabilities, ensuring open communication and collaboration
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and provide guidance on the development of appropriate educational plans for students with disabilities
- Coordinate professional development opportunities for special education staff to support their ongoing learning and growth
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records related to special education services and student progress
- Collaborate with community organizations and agencies to provide additional support and resources for students with disabilities
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Special Education or a related field
- Valid state teaching license in Special Education
- Minimum of five years of experience working in special education, with at least two years in a leadership role
- Thorough knowledge of state and federal regulations related to special education, including IDEA
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, including the ability to mentor and support special education staff
- Experience with data analysis and using data to inform decision-making
Salary: $95,000-$125,000
