The Cable Technician is responsible for installing, terminating, testing, and servicing low-voltage structured cabling systems and physical security systems such as Access Control, Video Surveillance, and related infrastructure. This role is field-based and includes both new construction and retrofit projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Install Cat5e/Cat6 and fiber optic cables
- Mount and wire access control devices (maglocks, readers, REX, panels)
- Perform cable routing through ceilings, walls, conduits
- Terminate, label, and test copper/fiber cables
- Program basic access control software/hardware
- Read and interpret construction drawings
- Ensure installations comply with safety and building codes
- Collaborate with site supervisors, GCs, and client reps
Qualifications
- 3+ years of low voltage cabling or ACS installation experience
- Familiarity with cabling tools and test equipment
- Certifications (preferred): OSHA 10/30, BICSI, AVIXA, Lenel/Genetec
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
